Haleigh
Hi, I'm Haleigh! I live in Rochester, WA with Justin (the husband), my kid sister, two pups, and two kitties. I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening, and horseback riding in my free time. I also work part-time in medical billing. I'm about as socially awkward as they come, but luckily, I make up for it by becoming best friends with every animal I meet.
I've lived alongside large, working breed dogs my entire life. As a result, I'm very comfortable interacting with all breeds and sizes. Justin and I have also fostered multiple cats over the last few years.
As a kid, I spent a lot of time on my family's dairy farm playing with the calves and barn cats (and getting on my uncles' nerves whenever possible). Since then, I've had experience caring for various farm animals.
As a young teen, I started working at a local boarding and training facility in exchange for riding lessons. I gained a ton of horse experience and have continued riding casually as an adult.
While earning my bachelor's degree in management and accounting, I worked as an independently contracted dog walker and pet sitter. I didn't typically walk the same dog more than a few times. Through this, I gained substantial experience with dogs of all sizes and breeds, including special needs dogs and dogs with behavioral issues. After graduation, I couldn't stomach the idea of leaving the pet care industry. It's been three years since graduation, and my mind hasn't changed. I'll be working with animals all my life.
Thanks for reading! I can't wait to meet you and your pets!
Justin
Hiya! I'm the aforementioned husband, Justin - assistant restaurant manager by day, pet sitter extraordinaire by night. I love music, video games, and spending quality time with my family.
Growing up, my family had cats and a couple of small dogs. I have a pretty laid-back personality, so animals tend to gravitate toward me - especially cats. I can convince even the most skittish cats to be my best pal.
When Haleigh and I met, I didn't have a ton of experience with large, high-drive dogs or dogs with behavioral issues. That changed pretty quickly when I realized she and her 100+ pound American Staffordshire terrier mix (with severe dog reactivity) were a non-negotiable package deal. Despite his reactivity issues, Biggie is very lazy and docile. we've Since adopted a german shepherd/rottweiler mix and, while she is very sweet and timid, Peep has working-dog energy levels and needs tons of exercise and mental stimulation. Between the two of them, I'd say I'm becoming quite the well-rounded dog owner. I've learned about different training methods, genetics and the part they play in dogs' behavior, dog body language, and so much more over the years.
while I love working with dogs, Cats will always have my heart. If you have an especially shy kitty, or if you just want your feline friend to be treated like the royalty they (think they) are, don't hesitate to reach out to me for a meet and greet!
Safety - Our #1 Priority
Every time you interact with your pet, you are training them. You put a ton of hard work into training, and the last thing we want to do is derail your progress. Unless you explicitly instruct us otherwise, we will always strive to make every interaction with your pet a positive, training-neutral experience. By default, we will never offer your pet corrections for "bad" behavior. However, safety is our #1 priority, and we will do whatever is necessary to keep your pet safe, happy, and healthy when confronted with potentially dangerous situations.
On the topic of safety, there are a few policies that we hold firm for every one of our clients.
We will never, under any circumstances:
-
Take your pet to a dog park or similar.
-
Let your pet off-lead outside of your securely fenced property.
-
Allow your pet to interact with strangers (animal or human) while under our care.
